Highlights:“Although recovery-oriented care planning is increasingly promoted worldwide, its definition has remained inconsistent. In our latest concept analysis and scoping review of 28 studies, we clarify the concept as a collaborative, person-centred and dynamic process that supports individuals to identify meaningful recovery goals, build on their strengths, and make shared decisions about their care.
We identified five defining attributes: (1) collaboration and shared decision-making, (2) strengths-based and person-centred care, (3) recovery-focused goal setting, (4) empowering therapeutic relationships, and (5) care planning as an ongoing, flexible process. These findings provide a clearer conceptual foundation to inform future research, education, policy and the implementation of recovery-oriented mental healthcare.”
