• Six key themes were identified, highlighting increased confidence in self-management, development of coping strategies, and the important roles of parents, peers, and healthcare providers.
• Supportive relationships and effective communication were critical for sustaining adolescents’ diabetes self-management.
• Evidence focusing on adolescents with type 2 diabetes remains limited, highlighting the need for tailored education and support strategies for this group.
