– This meta-analysis examined the association between BDNF gene polymorphisms (rs6265, rs16917204, rs7103411, rs11030104) and risk of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)
– Certain BDNF SNPs were significantly associated with reduced AUD risk in overall analyses (homozygous and codominant models)
– Protective effects were observed particularly among Caucasians (homozygous and recessive models), but not among Asians
– Findings suggest that BDNF polymorphisms may play a protective role and could serve as potential genetic markers in clinical assessment of AUD
